Nominations open for new grain industry awards

GRAIN Producers South Australia is calling for nominations for the inaugural South Australian Grain Industry Awards, aimed at recognising excellence, innovation, and leadership within the state’s grain sector.

GPSA chief executive Brad Perry highlighted the significant role the grain industry plays in the state’s economy, contributing billions annually and supporting tens of thousands of jobs.

“These awards will celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations within the South Australian grain industry, across six award categories, as well as induct the first ever members into the SA Grain Industry Hall of Fame,” Mr Perry said.

The six award categories are:

• Grain Producer of the Year
• Young Grain Producer of the Year
• Innovation Award
• Sustainability Award
• Women in Grain Award
• Industry Impact Award

Perry emphasised the opportunity to recognise those leading the way in sustainability, innovation and leadership, and encouraged all members of the industry — whether they be producers, researchers or advocates — to consider nominating.

The Grain Producer and Young Grain Producer of the Year winners will each receive $4000, while the Sustainability Award winner will be awarded a $7000 scholarship.

The remaining category winners will each take home $3000.

Additionally, the newly established SA Grain Industry Hall of Fame will honour individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the sector, including posthumous recognitions.

Nominations are open until December 9, with finalists to be announced on December 16.

The winners will be revealed during a gala dinner at Adelaide Oval on February 4, coinciding with the Grains Research and Development Corporation Adelaide updates.
