AN UPDATE on agricultural technology and tips on building farm resilience will feature at a free workshop aimed at farmers aged 35 and under.
Hosted by the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board and Northern Sustainable Soils, the update will be held at Port Broughton on Thursday, April 10.
The event will kick off at 8am with breakfast and coffee at a local cafe, giving the participants a chance to meet informally.
This will be followed by the workshop at Port Broughton Hotel from 9am to 12.45pm, then lunch will be provided.
The first guest speaker will be Michael Zwar from Ag Tech Services, Laura, who will give a presentation on the use of drones to map weeds and soil acidity (pH).
Next, Wharminda farmer and agronomic consultant Ed Hunt will talk about building farm resilience and changing trends in agriculture.
He will also cover the costs to run a farm business, including machinery, land prices and labour, to help participants gain a better understanding of the cost of production.
The third speaker will be Curramulka farmer Andrew Slater, who will impart his wisdom on resilience to the next generation of farmers and give his take on costs and gross margins.
