GROWERS looking to build skills to contribute to industry boards and committees are encouraged to apply to participate in the GrainGrowers Onboard program.
The OnBoard program, which has operated since 2021, provides a unique leadership and professional development opportunity designed specifically for grain growers
Applications opened yesterday, January 6, and close on February 10.
GrainGrowers CEO Shona Gawel said the program was designed to equip an ever-expanding group of growers with the skills and experience to play more active roles outside their farming operations.
“Over the years, we have seen participants apply their newly gained expertise and step forward to take up a wide range of board and committee positions,” she said.
“I would encourage any grower who has ever considered active involvement in wider industry-based roles, to put themselves forward for this professional development opportunity.”
The OnBoard program offers an immersive in-person experience, integrating hard and soft skills training delivered by expert facilitators. The course provides full funding for participants to complete governance training through the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
In 2025, Onboard participants have the choice of one of two courses administered by AICD:
• Company Director’s Course — provides a comprehensive understanding of the requirements needed to be an effective director for not-for-profits and other industries.
• Governance Foundations for Not-For- Profit Directors — a shorter course focused on directorship for not-for-profit organisations.
